Back from San Diego Comic-Con and at work agaaain. It was so much fun, and I got to meet the most amazing artists (mostly deviantART artists!), authors, and I made a ton of new friends. I'm always so overwhelmed by the support of the community, and it wasn't any different at the deviantART booth in Artists' Alley this year
I spent a lot of time working the booth, but I also got to go and see some panels (Rifftrax with $Ayame-Kenoshi and the What's Hot in YA Fiction Panel!) and get some great sketches in my sketchbook.
Highlights:
- All of the amazing people I met at the dA booth!
- Meeting ~all-day with $damphyr and giving her a card and tea (and buying her amazing teas! [link] )
- Fangirling over the artists deviantART sponsored! ~UNDERANANGEL, *larkinheather, `sambees, ~mleiv, ~Mogorron, & ~SpyrosVerykios-ComiX
- Breakfast at the Broken Yolk cafe with $Ayame-Kenoshi EVERY morning.
- Almost dying because of *rufftoon's greatness. (see below)
- SO MUCH ART. SO MUCH INSPIRATION.
- $Ayame-Kenoshi and I getting 'lost' and ending up in the basement of a hotel.
- Convincing ~HeroGear that he should take MLP commissions. (Heh heh heh.)
This list is going to go on forever. I'm just going to throw some pictures up.

Drawings from ~SpyrosVerykios-ComiX, `sambees, and *larkinheather--three of the artists deviantART sponsored for SDCC!

Link, drawn by ~HeroGear! (The one I drew in his sketchbook was embarrassingly bad.)

I love Flight comics, and Kazu Kibuishi in general, so I picked up the last installment of Flight (8) and the first Explorer anthology! Jason Caffoe doodled in the Flight volume, and he and *rufftoon both doodled in Explorer! I read both of these anthologies on the train ride back to LA, and they are both wonderful <3

I'm a huge fan of The Fox Sister comic! I picked up a copy from *chirart for me and for $y2jenn. It's SO beautiful!

Half of my free time, I spent seeking out books and authors. Victoria Schwab is an amazing author who ALSO happens to share a love of narwhals with me <3 I'd been wanting her to sign my book for a year now, and it was amazing to have the opportunity.
One of my favorite experiences was getting to meet Johane Matte, *rufftoon, and ask (beg on my knees) for her to draw Zhao (from Avatar: TLA) in my sketchbook. I think it's smeared from rubbing my face against it. I love it. I HAVE ALL OF THE FEELS.
Anyway, it was so fun. I wish I had a more varied perspective to give you, but you can watch #Comic-Con to see all of the great things that took place while we were there! There are so many photos and journals and there will be much more over the coming days.
Look! A picture of our dA SDCC crew!

I'm glad to be home, but I had a wonderful time. My cat, Lannister, totally missed me and was waiting for me to get back. (Okay. So he doesn't care. But he's cute! Sleepy kitties!)

I'll be uploading a slightly more personal story on my blog,
[link], where I recount a little bit about meeting some of
the authors I've admired for years.
Love you guys, and talk to you all soon!
<3

Lol at getting lost and ending up in the hotels basement. That was fun and funny to read.
If you want a LOTR sketch all you need do is ask. I actually tried to use the Wacom to sketch Gandalf at your booth. It was fun but very challenging.
